Fun Filled Fourth!

I've always loved the 4th of July! When I was little, my family used to go to "The Club" in Davis with my grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins. We would swim and barbecue. In the evening we would head over to the park to spread out our blankets and get ready to "ooh" and "ahh" at the fireworks. I loved it!!

As the years have come and gone, people have moved and traditions have evolved and changed, but one thing remains the same. The fourth of July isn't complete without swimming barbecuing and fireworks!

This year, we headed out to the lake with my sister, Jen, and her family and our good friends the McCauley's. The big kids were still in Arizona and we missed having them out there with us!Ashlyn and Jason Rickards

Ashlyn is getting better about wearing her life jacket and gets really excited when she sees the lake! She says, "Oh, the lake! The lake! The boat!" She loves to go out on the boat!Tara and Ashlyn

Jason spent some time perfecting his skills wake surfingJason without the rope!

I'm not nearly as good! I can get up and play in the surf a little, but I'm still getting it figured out! It's a lot of fun though!

After we were done at the lake, we got a few things together and headed over to the McCauley's to barbecue and swim and get together with more of our friends

When it started to get dark, we set up on the grass to watch the high school fireworks across the street.

Ashlyn loved the fireworks! When they would go off she would say, "Pop! Pop! Pop!". She can say fireworks but it sound like she has a marble in her mouth when she says it! It's cute!

We came back to the house and lit a few of our own fireworks and enjoyed Haley's homemade ice cream! Yummy!

It was a lot of fun and I was exhausted by the end of the night!
