January. Baby It's Cold Outside!

January looked mostly like this:
When I would open my front door, I'd see this:
When I opened my back door, I'd see this:
When I'd open my garage door, I would often see this; even though it gets cleared every morning before Jason goes to work!
So, if we want to go any where, we would see a lot of this:
Several times, one of our sweet neighbors with a snow blower would come to our rescue!  If we are still here next year, that is a must have!
When is wasn't dumping snow, our weather looked like this:

I know there were colder weeks but I just happened to take a screen shot of that week.
I've never ever experienced that kind of cold!  It kind of makes your head hurt.  So, we mostly stayed in here:
Ashlyn came into our bed more than once because it was too cold during the night.  We invested in a few heated blankets for the kids.

Paige hated getting out of her pajamas because they were "cozy".
We ate lots of soups and our new favorite chicken chili to keep us warm.  Jessica caught Jason and I playing Words with Friends while eating a late dinner.
I learned that there was a real reason that driving gloves were invented and that mud rooms are not just a neat idea, but a real necessity!
More than once, when Jason left for work, it was in the single digits!
Regularly after school, I'd find the kids huddled here:
Austin got lucky that afternoon and had it all to himself.

We did venture out a few times.  We took Austin and some friends to Park City to ski and stayed and skied too.
I thought it was so cool that you can ski right into town!
Lauren FINALLY got her cast off!!
BUT, she had to wear a brace for the next month.  She could take it off to sleep and to shower, but after being in a cast for three months, this was a huge relief!
One of our family new year's resolutions was to read the Book of Mormon as a family.
I have loved reading each night with my family!  It has been such a good experience.  Some nights we have to put Paige to bed and then read because she can be so distracting, but other nights, she just wants to be like the big kids with her own book and pretend to read along.  So many moments, my heart has taken pictures and I finally pulled out my phone to capture a few.   One of these days I am going to sneak a picture of little Paige during family prayer.  She is just too darn cute!

Janelle and I threw a baby shower for my sister in law, Jen.  My dining room table became the holding place until the shower.
I think it the decorations came out cute!
I was a fan of the rubber duckies in the punch!

That pretty much wraps up January.
